Q. Is the page flip program for any computer?

A. Sorry the page flip program will run on a PC under the Windows ME, XP, Vista operating system. You will also need to download and install DirectX version 9.0c if it is not already installed (this is freely available from the Microsoft website). It may be possible to create page flip books if you are running emulation software but this has not yet been tested.

Q. Does this program work with PDFs?

A. No this program only works with JPG pictures. PDF software can be expensive and complicated to use, we wish to make our software accesible to as many people as possible. There are other softwares that will work with PDF files although they can be quite expensive.

Q. I don't know much about computers, will I have to do any programming or html coding in order to get this to work for my website?

A. The original intention of the program was to make it as simple to use as possible. You do not need to program or code anything, simply put the program in the same folder as the pictures you wish to turn into an online book and run it. The program automatically converts the pictures, creates the book and produces the webpage. All you need to do is upload it to your server.

Q. Can I make only one page flip book when I purchase the program?

A. You can make any number of page flip books that you like, there is no restriction placed on the number of books you make however, you cannot make page flip books for websites that you intend to sell or pass on to any third party.

Q. How do I create / replace the front cover for the page flip book?

A. By default the program creates a front and back cover for you, these are called front.jpg and back.jpg. You can quite easily replace these with your own front and back cover pictures once the book has been created.

Q. Once I have created a page flip book do I have to host it on your server or can I upload it to my own web server?

A. The book will be yours and would be hosted on your server. If you do not have a server or simply don't have the capacity to host the book we would be more than happy to maintain server space for you and host your books on our server for a small monthly fee (currently £5.00 per month). You could probably host 5 - 10 books without worries on our servers.

Q. How many pages can I create in a page flip book? Is there some kind of hard limit on the number of pages created.

A. There is no limit to the size of the book or the number of pages in a book. Because of the dynamic nature of a book, the pages are loaded a few at a time as needed. It is possible to configure the book to load a complete set of pages into memory but we do not recommend this especially on larger books.

Q. Is the page flip product a tangible product or is it downloadable?

A. We made the decision very early on that we would make the product available to download from our website so that you could get started as quickly as possible. If for some reason you need a tangible version of the program on CD then please request this when you place an order, or alternatively you could burn a copy to CD for your own use only.

Q. Can I add links to my page flip book pages?

A. Book pages are created from JPG pictures. The program can also handle Flash pages so if you can create simple links on a Flash page then you can add the page to a completed book. In Version 2 you will have the option of including any Flash pages you create automatically.
